Festival Miami, traditional harbinger of the fall music season, will serve up its usual lineup of classical, jazz and Latin music this year with an emphasis on returning artists. The 24th installment of the University of Miami Frost School of Music series, the last assembled by former dean William Hipp, will present 23 events in six weeks from Sept. 29-Nov. 11. The series opens Sept. 29 with Thomas Sleeper leading the Frost Symphony Orchestra. Fast-rising pianist Gabriela Montero will perform Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in a program that also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and the world premiere of Lansing McLoskey's Chanson pour cordes.
